Setting up two-factor authentication

How to add a TOTP app, hardware key, or SMS fallback to your account.

Two-factor authentication (2FA) is the second line of defence on your account — required, by us, for every withdrawal. The strongest option is a passkey; the next-best is a hardware key (YubiKey, Titan); the third option is a TOTP authenticator app.

Set up a TOTP app

  1. 1Open Account → Security → Two-factor authentication.
  2. 2Choose “Authenticator app”.
  3. 3Scan the QR code in Google Authenticator, Authy, 1Password, or your password manager.
  4. 4Enter the 6-digit code the app generates.
  5. 5Download the recovery codes — print them or save them offline. These are the only way back in if you lose your phone.

Set up a hardware key

  1. 1Same path: Account → Security → Two-factor authentication.
  2. 2Choose “Hardware security key” and tap your YubiKey (or equivalent) when prompted.
  3. 3Name it (you can register up to four).
